Clinging to their cameras & purses, wide eyed tourists hastily navigate Carral st. between Gastown & Chinatown, but some were curious enough to slow their mad dash to enter the Interurban Gallery to view my paintings which were on show Sept. 13-Oct 3/10 in downtown Vancouver, 1 W. Hastings.
I had visitors from Germany, Lebanon, England, China, Australia & New Zealand. They pass the drug addicts & black market traders milling thickly around the gallery streets, some of those locals also dropping in to see my show. I was displaying the portraits I had completed for the fundraising branch of the Union Gospel Mission.
This Union Gospel Mission Drawing, sold to a fun couple from Oak Bay in Victoria
I had my easel set up & rushed out after anyone who I found fascinating, begging them to pose for me. These were some drawings I completed during my 3 week stint at the gallery.
It was tremendous fun, such riches of characters to draw!
Nov. 27th weekend I completed a studio show at Vancouver’s infamous Culture Crawl at 1000 Parker. 300 artists, 3 days of open studios. Lots of people who love art crowded through the studios on the 4 floors of the commercial building. I showed art I had produced for fundraising branch of UGM in 2009 & work I had completed at Interurban Gallery in September/10 while showing my UGM pastel paintings.
This work sold at the Culture Crawl Nov 27th weekend, to a very gentle man from the West End in Vancouver who collects art.:
I brought up one of my favourite pieces from storage, a Goth woman I had done in 1999 & it was bought by an interesting middle aged woman professor with lots vivacity, for a newly renovated area of her house.
Limited addition giclee prints are available of the sold original.
